Each hula class moves at a different pace, depending on the students'
abilities.  Not sure which class is best for you?  Contact us!  All classes are
under the auspices of the Parks and Recreation Departments.

New Beginners Women's Class
For women ages 16 & older:  Beginners Class   
started on
May 2, 2011.   Learn basic hands and
feet movements to a Descriptive Hula.  Initial course
runs 6 weeks, every Monday, 7 to 8 p.m.,
Cottonwood Civic Center.  No dance experience
required.  Email us to be put on Registration List
now! There is only ONE beginners class per year.
Next class will likely start in May 2012.
Women's Intermediate Hula Class
For women ages 16 & older: Cottonwood
Civic Center, 805 N. Main Street,
Cottonwood, every Wednesday, 6:00 pm
to 7:30 pm, $10.00 per class.  Prerequisite:
5 years previous hula experience and Kumu
Hula approval.

Women's Advanced Hula Class
For adult women: Cottonwood
Village, every Tuesday night, 5:30 to
8:00 p.m., $40 per month.  
Prerequisite: minimum of 7 years
previous hula experience.  Placement
into this class requires Kumu Hula
approval.
Women's Beginners II Hula Class
For women ages 16 & older.  Every
Monday night, 6 to 7 p.m., Civic Center in
Old Town Cottonwood, $8.00 per class.  
Prerequisite: 2 years previous hula
experience and/or Kumu Hula approval.
Kupuna (Senior Citizen) Hula Class
For elders age 60 plus: Cottonwood Civic Center, 805 N. Main Street
(Old Town), every Wednesday,
3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, $8.00 per class.  
Classes are open entry.  Please call to find out the best date for your
first class.

Kane (Men's) Hula Class
For men ages 16 and up: Cottonwood Civic
Center, 805 N. Main Street, Cottonwood, every
Wednesday, 7:30 pm to 8:15 pm. $5.00 per class.  
Men's hula is slightly more rigorous than that for
women.  Some say that hula steps have their
origins in Hawaiian martial arts.

FLAGSTAFF HULA CLASSES
Classes in Flagstaff have been temporarily suspended, due to low enrollment.  If you are interested in a
Beginners Class in Flagstaff in 2012, please email Kumu Kehau and let her know.  Please use the email address
on the Contact Us page.  Thanks!
PRESCOTT VALLEY HULA CLASSES
For Men and Women ages 15 and up: one select Saturday per month.    Classes are held in the Crystal
Room at the new Prescott Valley Library, 3rd floor.  
ADVANCED LEVEL: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, on that select Saturday.  You must have at least 4 years of
previous hula experience to enter this class and Kumu Hula approval.  The cost for this class is $40,
payable to the "Town of Prescott Valley".
BEGINNERS LEVEL (tentative): 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, on that select Saturday.  No prior hula experience
necessary.  However, classes are progressive with one lesson built upon another.  The cost for this class is
$15.

Kumu to make sure you have the right location of the current class (dates and location subject to
change). There are no classes during winter months (Dec. - March).

Hawaiian Language classes will begin sometime in May 2012.  Dates, time, and location to be
announced in 2012.  No prior knowledge required.  Classes are progressive with one lesson built upon the
previous one.
